Truth: Moms are amazing! That’s it. That’s the point. So here we go: this one’s for the moms.
For the mom that won’t get a gift or a “Happy Mother’s Day”, and the mom that will be given the world and still question if she’s worthy. The mom that tries to do everything perfect and the mom that just tries to get through the day. The mom that is always giving extra to the people around her and the mom that just doesn’t have any extra to give. The mom that just wants one minute of quiet and the mom that cries in the silence of her empty house because her babies are grown and gone. The overjoyed new mom and the new mom struggling to find her joy postpartum. The moms-to-be, and the meant-to-be moms that have lost their babies before getting to hold them. The working moms and the stay at home moms that both just need a break. The bonus moms that care for another’s child as their own.
I see you and I thank you.
Thank you for all the tears you’ve wiped and the tears you’ve cried. The stretch marks and pain and the will to do it all over again. The countless diapers you’ve changed. The baths you’ve given when you haven’t had a shower in days. The comfort and warmth you provide. The meals you cook, and the meals you miss. The dishes you wash, and the late-night laundry that just never stops. The toys you tidy, and the puke you clean up. The constant worry and taking care of everyone around you. Thank you for being the glue and the force that keeps everything moving.
I hope you feel appreciated today and every day. If you don’t, know at least that your mom tribe sees you, and you are not alone.
Happy Mother’s Day.
